As soon as we go to sleep, the time of the revellers begins: Nightingales sing their songs, fireflies send out luminous signs of love, and badgers or racoons appear from their hides. Many animals live close to us and yet we hardly notice them. Unless they leave traces: like the dormouse raiding the supplies in our pantry, the marten nibbling the cables of our cars, or the fox roaming a chicken run. They are all nocturnal and don’t depend on the artificial light that illuminates our nights. On the contrary, it rather threatens their lives.
